Official Scouting Report

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Tyler's quick hands at the plate and impressive instincts in the outfield make him a well-rounded prospect. He understands hitters and what his pitcher wants to do to position himself in the best spot to make plays. His first step quickness and efficient angles give him very extensive range to track down hard hit balls. He is direct and compact at the plate, keeping his hands inside to drive the ball to the middle of the field. He shows a fluid swing and level path to hit lots of line drives and uses his lower half to generate pop. He works with good pace on the mound with a quick arm stroke and extension to the plate. He features a FB up to 80mph with run, a 12-6 curve and a changeup he has feel for. Tyler will be a very good outfielder who provides plenty of offense at the next level.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - Santa Rosa, CA Tyler is a physically imposing, athletic two-way prospect with lots of potential on the diamond. He has impressive pull side power with the ability to clear the fence on almost any field he plays on. In the outfield, he has quick, fluid feet with good lateral agility that both lead to the ability to run balls down in the gaps. He takes efficient routes to the ball and fields with soft, presented hands and has a quick exchange and release to throw with online carry to his target. On the bump, he features a four pitch mix from a 3/4 arm angle that generates natural run on his pitches. He uses his lower half to drive towards the plate and his ball gets on hitters quickly. Keeping his arm in sync with his lower half will lead to better command and more life on his pitches. At the dish, he is very aggressive, looking to attack the pitch he's looking for. His bat speed is fast through the zone and he takes his hands directly to the ball, making consistent, square contact. His swing has excellent potential with his natural instincts and smooth actions in the box. Tyler is a very exciting prospect who has a bright future in the game.

08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Tyler is a 2-way player with time on his side as he continues to perfect his skills. In the OF, his range and ability to track down balls has improved, evident from his improved 60 time. With increased arm strength, his throws now have more life on them to the cutoff. As he works with more momentum to his target, his velo and accuracy will continue to rise and become effortless. On the mound, Tyler shows great poise with competitive actions. Working to get ahead with the FB and commanding his secondary pitches will help him keep hitters off balance and become a threat on the bump. At the plate, this RHH is relaxed with a smooth swing to all fields. He makes in game adjustments and fights with two strikes. As he works to stay short to the ball and long through the zone, his barrel will find more consistent contact. He is a talented player with time as he continues to mature physically.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Tyler is a talented OF that also showcased on the mound. In the OF he has a quick first step, good body control, and is aggressive to the ball. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws to his target with life. On the mound he pitches to contact and gets ahead of hitters early. He repeats his delivery and throws a fastball with late life and a curve with a 11/5 shape with good depth. Offensively, he has an open stance, strong balance, and quick bat speed. He hit consistent line drives and sprayed the ball to all fields.

03/23/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Union City, CA Terry is a talented 2-way player (OF/RHP) who can swing it. At the plate, this RH hitter shows good rhythm in his athletic approach. He remains balanced throughout his swing and consistently squares the ball up. He hits the ball where its pitched and drives it to all parts of the field. In the OF, Terry takes a quick first step and works into position behind the fly-ball. He plays through the ball well and shows a good crow-hop to throw. On the bump, he gets to a tall balance point and drives off of the rubber toward the plate. FB ranges from 71-74 mph as it shows some sink. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape as he works to stay on top of it. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Load
Defense
1. Exchange to throw
2. Ground ball positioning
Pitching
1. Develop off-speed
2. Lengthen stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
