Official Scouting Report

09/19/2010 - College PREP - Milwaukee, WI Tyler showed some improvements in his game in Oak Creek, WI. He lowered his 60 time from 8.12 to 7.9, and increased his velocity from 72 to 75 MPH. In the INF, Tyler has soft hands, average athleticism, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He has a decent arm action and throws with good accuracy across the diamond. Tyler will need to attack the ball more aggressively, field it further out in front of his body, and avoid winding up to throw in order to improve defensively. On the mound, Tyler repeats his delivery well and is around the plate with his pitches. He has an effective low 3/4 arm action, but will need to improve his glove side lead, use more lower 1/2, and add arm strength in order to improve mound effectiveness. Offensively, Tyler has average balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has a good set-up, level swing, and he tries to be direct to the baseball. Hitting can improve if Tyler can avoid stepping in the bucket, have more direct hands to the ball, and by finishing off his swing.

02/14/2010 - College PREP - Middleton, WI Tyler is a young, athletic, 2-way player both at SS and on the mound. In the INF, Tyler gives max effort and works to field balls hit his way. As Tyler grows and matures, it will be important for him to loosen his shoulder, soften his hands, and increase his arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, Tyler throws strikes and his pitches have decent movement. His CB has okay spin with 11-5 shape. More extension and use of his lower 1/2, along with added arm strength will help Tyler's abilities on the mound improve. Offensively, Tyler has an average set-up and decent bat speed. He has a level swing and can hit the ball to all fields. Hitting can improve if Tyler can avoid wrapping the bat, incorporate more lower 1/2 into his swing, and swing at better pitches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
