08/10/2014 - College PREP - Burlington, VT Tyler is a lean 2B that will graduate in 2015. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying slightly above average hitting abilities through an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a compact / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half and load more. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square ground balls up. Hands are soft / clean. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases his foot quickness and plays through balls more while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Tyler has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
