Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt, tracks the ball well and sticks pitches in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.16 with carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he has a 3-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. FB shows a range of 78-82 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Tyler has a lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.
