03/07/2010 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Tyler is a young, 2013 graduate, showing as a two-way player at 1B plus on the mound with a small, thin frame with projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Defensively, he shows proper foot work around the bag and consistently showed the ability to pick throws out of the dirt. Hands are solid and he moves well to glove side with throws showing accuracy as he will benefit from a long toss program. Offensively, Stroup shows a balanced approach, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Swing path gets long with power numbers increasing as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 63-69 mph with average off speed pitches. With 3 years to further develop, Tyler has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
