07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Vero Beach (Ages 14-18) Tyler continues to show as an OF/LHP but currently projects best in the OF for the next level where he has improved. Defensive grade in the OF has improved as he utilizes his quick feet well in tracking down balls, displaying range in the OF. He takes proper routes / angles and works to get behind balls, playing through well. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 2B and 3B. On the mound, fastball showed range of 72-74 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a hard worker.

03/10/2013 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Tyler is a solid, athletic OF/LHP with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.80 60 time. Feet are quick / active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he reads balls well off the bat. He needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Sufana shows a balanced, rhythm setup. Hands are smooth / loose working through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting / power grades to improve, he needs to work to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with loose spin. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on his pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. Tyler has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
