Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

05/07/2023 - National Showcase - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Tyler is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At SS, he works from right to left and closes the distance on batted balls. Shows good agility and plays underneath the baseball. Fields from an athletic fielding position, with his hands out front, and picks out hops. Made on-line throws to first base from multiple arm slots and an arm velocity up to 81mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber, with a good balance position, and gets his chest to his glove. Shows a clean arm stroke with good extension out front. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 78-80mph with good movement in the zone, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth, and a developing changeup. At the plate, he hits from a crouched and athletic stance. A simple setup to start, with smooth timing, and gets a good lower half turn. Showed a fast barrel that he keeps in the zone for a long time. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 73mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Tyler making huge strides on the baseball field.

11/03/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex Tyler is an excellent two-way player (SS/RHP) in the 2027 class. In the field, he has easy actions and a quick 1st step. Feet and hands are in sync and is in control of his body. Funnels well and separates in the middle of his body to sustain natural arm action. Good feel around the bag on turns and feeds. High defensive awareness. On the mound, he dominated. He attacked hitters and created pitcher counts. His FB topped at 75 with run. His CB sat 61-2 with 11-5 shape and sharp break. His CH sat 61-2 with deception and FB arm speed. At the plate, he showed solid rhythm and balance. Has loose actions in the box and has a comfortable feel. Show contact type hitter and when he learns to stay tall in his approach, he can become a gap-to-gap hitter. Overall, there is a lot to like about his game a must follow for future events.

09/25/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - York, PA Tyler is a RHP/SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, Tyler gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Tyler operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-61mph with sudden 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 61-62mph. In the field, Tyler shows active footwork and creates good angles. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he works to keep his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He leads well with his lower half and works through a level swing, spraying the ball to all fields. Overall, Tyler is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Tyler is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. On the mound, a right-handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. He gathers over rubber, with good tempo to delivery, and has a simple/repeatable delivery. Rotates to target, with a good glove pull, and has a fast arm. Throws a FB that sits 63-64mph that he tries to work in/out. Mixes in a 12/6 shaped breaking ball and a developing changeup he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during bullpen. A right-handed hitter starts with a tall and even stance. Has a simple swing and stays connected throughout swing. Flat barrel path as he sprayed balls to all fields consistently with a bat exit velocity of 63mph during BP. Another 6 years of continued growth and development will put him on track to have opportunities to play at the high school level and beyond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
