06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Tyler continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all field with gap-to-gap. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.10 range and will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills have improved and show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/05/2017 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Tyler is a strong, athletic C/3B and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.27. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.00-2.22 with accuracy to his throws. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the dish. At 3B, he displays clean / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well side to side. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Tyler has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
