09/18/2010 - Accelerated Pitching/Catching Weekend (Commuter) Tyler shows the makings of a true power arm in the future. His free, loose arm action allows him to pitch comfortably in the mid-80s now with more to come. His fastball has good downhill plane and shows some late tail. He complements his fastball with a true slider that has bite and depth, and a change that has deception due to some fade and his arm speed. Mechanically, Tyler shows a balanced deliver with good direction in his lower half. His command will improve with better timing of his hip drive in the delivery and making sure that his front shoulder doesn't leak early. Overall, he is an athletic guy on the mound with an aggressive approach. It is easy to see Tyler throwing 90+ down the road. That velocity combined with his secondary stuff will make him extremely attractive to college programs throughout the country.

08/09/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Tyler showed improvements in his game during his time at Team One Northeast. He is an athletic, 2-way player that can Pitch and play OF. Defensively, Tyler is an aggressive Outfielder with quick feet and fluid actions. He has sure hands, he gets on top of the ball, and has a long / loose arm action. Tyler uses his lower 1/2 well and delivers the ball with life and carry to his target. On the mound, Tyler hit 86 MPH during his innings at Team One. He has a loose arm action, he gets to his balance point well, and he repeats his delivery. Tyler has good direction toward the plate, he uses his lower 1/2, and is around the plate with all of his pitches. Added arm strength can better command of his SL should help take Tyler's game to the next level. At the plate, Tyler has some balance and an okay set-up. He puts the ball in play but will need to shorten his stroke, improve his barrel accuracy, and add strength in order to get better offensively.

06/09/2010 - Under Armour Southeast Regional Tournament - 2010 Walker continues to show as a prospect on the mound with a solid pitcher's build. Fastball showed a range of 83-86 mph with quality off speed pitches. He attacks hitters and is effectively wild, keeping hitters off balance. He has an upside on the mound and will get a lot of attention from the college coaches.

03/28/2010 - College PREP - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Tyler is a young, tall, and lean athlete that Pitches and plays OF. He currently projects better on the mound, where his FB touches 87 MPH, and his SL has tight 10-5 spin. Tyler has a live, loose arm, and a good pitchers build. His SL compliments his FB well with sharp, late break. Tyler can get more out of his frame and arm action if he can work to finish his pitches and follow through more. In the OF, Tyler makes plays on balls hit his way and again shows a long, loose arm with life. If he can avoid rushing, and field the ball out more in front of his body, defensive tool grades will improve. Offensively, Tyler has good balance and bat speed. He gets good extension to and through the ball and puts the barrel on the ball. The ball jumps off Tyler's bat and he has pop into the gaps. Hitting numbers can get better if Tyler can work the ball to all fields and get his front foot down sooner.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
