02/24/2013 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Tyler is a lanky OF that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.83 60 time. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground in the OF. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. For defensive grades to improve, he needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Williams shows an athletic setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path and he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Tyler has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
