11/07/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pompano Beach, FL Vance is an athletic C/SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Vance sits in a low stance and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through the 2B bag. At SS, Vance covers ground well and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets back into his load well. He stays direct to the ball through a level swing path and produces solid line drives. With four more years to develop, Vance has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Vance is a 3B/RHP with plenty of room to grow as a player. At 3B, Vance made good plays and will see improvement through specific range and throwing drills. To improve range, Vance should incorporate cone and ladder drills. These drills will aid in his explosiveness and lateral movements along with overall athletic ability. To improve throwing, Vance could incorporate band work and throwing progression to aid in overall velocity and accuracy. At the plate, Vance shows a spray type approach through a tall set up, good balance and a good lower half. On the mound, Vance shows good mechanics and displays a FB and CB (high 3/4 arm slot), keeping the ball around the zone. He can improve on the mound by staying square to his target and utilizing more of his legs. He shows a good idea of pitching on the mound, shows good poise and stays composed. Vance is aggressive at times, tries to pitch ahead in counts and does a decent job holding runners on.

01/07/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Vance is a young catcher with a lean frame. Behind the plate, Vance has firm hands, he looks the ball into his glove, and he tries to keep the ball in front when blocking. He has a clean exchange and a short arm action to 2nd base. Offensively, Vance has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and he loads properly. He stays on the ball, has a level swing path, and makes consistent contact to all fields. Vance can improve overall abilities with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
