06/01/2014 - College PREP - Bakersfield, CA Vandan is a lean, athletic SS/OF that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best defensively at SS where he shows excellent defensive actions, displaying smooth / athletic actions. He works to get around balls and plays through while presenting hands well out front through a low approach. Glove action is soft, clean and he shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play with big play potential in the MIF. In the OF, Hhe utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat but needs to work to get behind ball to play through and increase foot quickness to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting grades with solid power numbers through an athletic / squared approach and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, and aggressive as he generates bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more and creates more extension with hands. Vandan has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
