04/18/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Washington, DC Vaughn continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Feet are quick (7.16 60 time) and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Offensively, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Vaughn continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

07/28/2019 - College PREP - Washington, DC Vaughn is an OF/3B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Vaughn shows efficient footwork and moves well to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Vaughn improve as an OF. At 3B, Vaughn shows fluid footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Vaughn can improve as a 3B by working on his slow roller approach. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with plus bat speed, leading to solid contact and gap to gap pop. Consistently keeping his head still throughout his swing can help Vaughn improve as a hitter. Overall, Vaughn is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/16/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Washington, DC Vaughn is an OF/3B who will graduate in 2021. Defensively in the OF, he takes aggressive routes as he tracks down fly balls. He shows athletic actions and works behind on the fly ball. At 3B, he works low and presents his hands out in front. He fields GB's clean with his backhand and gains ground on his throws towards his target. With the stick, Vaughn takes aggressive hacks through the zone. He rips his lower 1/2, swings on a direct path through the zone and drives pitches with power to his pull side. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

07/13/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Washington, DC Vaughn is a young (2021 grad) 2-way player as a C/OF. Behind the dish, he shows his athleticism and sits in low. He tracks pitches into a soft mitt, sticks the ball and frames well. Transfer is clean with accuracy on his throws down to 2B, pop times of 2.61. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball and gather well, working in-line toward his target. Offensively, this righty has an aggressive approach as he's looking to swing it. He squares the ball up and looks to drive the middle of the field. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve skills on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
