04/09/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Vincent continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time date at 2.10 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. Lower half works well through the swing and shows barrel accuracy. Hands work inside the ball and he utilizes all fields through a line drive swing path. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate through a low 3/4 arm slot. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows arm side run but is too hard, resembling fastball velocities. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Vincent continues to work hard on his skills as he did so during his time in Pirate City. He's a gamer who takes the field with a purpose every time. As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup with a solid base. He has rhythm to load and swings on a level path, connecting with some pop. Getting more extension through contact will help to increase power at the plate. Behind the dish, Vincent sits in well and tracks pitches into his mitt. He is quick laterally and gets around pitches in the dirt, working to center them off of his chest. Transfer/exchange is clean with accurate throws down to 2B. Gaining more ground toward 2B with a quicker exchange will help pop times to continue to drop. Vincent is a skills backstop who (only a 2020 grad) still has a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
