09/12/2010 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Walker is a young (2013) 3B with an athletic, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.18 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive as he plays through the baseball with his body, showing a low approach. He moves well laterally displaying a solid backhand. Hands are soft, clean, and smooth displaying a sure glove action. Throws show accuracy, flashing carry as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to further develop more arm strength. Offensively, Carpenter shows a balanced approach with quick hands that flash bat speed through the zone. He shows a solid feel for the barrel, making solid contact with power numbers increasing as he adds more overall body strength. With 3 years to further develop, Walker has a lot of potential with the makings of a solid collegiate player as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
