Official Scouting Report

  • OF/3BPosition Projection

08/14/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Jacksonville, FL Walker is an outstanding OF/3B prospect in the 2024 class. Defensively in the OF, he gets great reads off the bat and attack the baseball with his feet. Works to get behind the ball and move forward in an athletic position. On the dirt, he has active feet and creates defensive angles. Sinks his hips and fields out in front. Transfers in the middle of his body to release from athletic looking arm slots. Has a plus arm (88 velo) and is accurate with his feeds. At the plate, he sees the ball well and uses the whole field. Has gap-to-gap power (87 exit velo) with a short and direct path. Scouts were impressed with his balance and ability to stay under control in his load to swing phase. Overall, Walker is a can’t miss prospect in the 2024 class.

12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Walker is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Walker shows active footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Removing his glove pat can help Walker field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with his hands held high. He gets into a simple load and sprays the ball to all fields. Walker can barrel up more baseballs by taking a more square stride. On the mound, Walker gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Walker operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 65-67mph with sharp 11-5 break. Extending through his release more can help Walker improve his pitch command and velocity. Overall, Walker is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Daytona Beach, FL Walker is a class of 2024 3B/RHP. He shows off a good-sized frame for his age with plenty of room to continue to fill it out. In the infield, he shows effective footwork and the ability to cover ground. Fields from a good square position with his hands presented out front. Does a good job of making accurate and online throws across the diamond. At the plate, he hits from a tall and even stance. Shows the ability to use his lower ½ effectively with the help of an effective load. Did a good job staying centered in his balance throughout his swing. Showed an advanced approach with a line drive focus to all fields. On the mound, he showed the ability to command 3 pitches for strikes. Showed repeatable mechanics and feel for all of his pitches. His fastball worked up to 77 while also showing a breaking ball with a 10-4 shape in the upper 60’s. Also showed feel to pitch with his changeup that showed depth and was 72-73 MPH. Walker is a good young player with many years to continue his development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
