03/03/2013 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Walker is a thick and solid SS who graduates in 2014. Defensively, he works to get into a square fielding position and makes the plays. He fields the backhand smoothly and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Fielding the ball more out in front and playing through the ball to his target will improve his defensive abilities. At the plate, Long shows a good setup and gets into a solid loaded position. He maintains good balance throughout his swing as he makes consistent contact. More backside lower 1/2 drive will help to increase his power. Continued hard work will help Walker to improve in his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
