Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

07/27/2023 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Walley is a gifted OF/RHP in the 2025 class. Scouts enjoyed watching his style of play. Competes with energy, positive body language and is engaged on every pitch. In the field, he takes solid routes to the baseball. Shows strong athletic actions and has a quick 1st step. His glove has pocket feel and his exchanges are clean. Uses momentum through the ball to redirect the ball back to the dirt with strong authority at 86 velo. On the mound, he can pound the zone. His FB cuts well at 77-8 in the bottom half of the zone. His SL sat 61 and with more conviction, can be an outpitch. His CH sinks a 66-8 and competes at the knees. Had a good week at the plate with 3 hits and a BB. Shows raw power with controllable actions. Bat speed is explosive at 84 exit velo and the barrel is in the zone. Working to keep his eyes on the barrel will keep his front side in longer to lock in more power. Overall, he had an impressive showing.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Wally is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who showed well during the Recruiting Classic. In the field, Wally shows active footwork and works behind the ball well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a smooth swing with plus bat speed, driving the ball to his pull side with authority. On the mound, Wally gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Wally operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with arm side run and sinking action. Changeup sits from 66-67mph with sinking action. Overall, Wally is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
