05/16/2010 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Westin is a 2011 RHP/OF. In the outfield, he attacks the ball in front of him and reads well off the bat. He takes good routes to fly balls, especially to his glove side and back. His arm slot is low for an outfielder and he tends to over stride which takes time away from his throws. Offensively, he showed the potential for bat speed. He attacks the ball from a strong set-up. He has violent actions in his swing, which makes him long. He tends to pull off, as opposed to staying closed with his front side hip and shoulder. On the mound, he showed comfort in throwing 3 off speed pitches. He has life in his arm and displayed a good strong finish with his lower half. His actions are a little violent from his balance point, as he snaps his head when he throws. As he develops from a thrower to a pitcher, he will utilize his pitches with more effectiveness. His curve ball, change up and splitter have a lot of potential. With some quality fundamental work on delivery and arm action, we should see a jump in velocity over the next year.
