06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Will continues to show improvements in his baseball tools as he improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.96 runner. Throws show accuracy but needs to stay on a long toss program to lower pop times. Offensively, he was 4 for 9 through a solid setup. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields.

12/06/2009 - College PREP - McCook, IL Will is a young catcher with a thin, wiry body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is near average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active in working in line, displaying proper direction to his target through the throwing process. He will benefit by speeding up his transfer / exchange in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.17 -2.27 as he displays solid average arm strength. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, lowering pop times. Receiving skills are near above average through a solid setup allowing his glove action to work around the baseball, sticking in the zone. Blocking skills are above average as he shows off his athletic abilities in getting his body down and around the ball, keeping in front. At the plate, Decraene shows average abilities and power through a solid setup. Swing path is level but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments at the plate. With 2 years to further develop, Will has potential with the makings to be a solid collegiate catcher as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
