02/26/2017 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Will is a strong 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Will shows active footwork and covers ground well. He has a short, loose arm action from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws on-line to his target. Will can improve defensively by quickening his exchange and by gaining more momentum on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an atheltic stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He has a strong lower half with good hip action and finishes with a firm front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and good power. Will can improve as a hitter by getting more rhythm into his load to improve his timing. On the mound, Will gathers over the rubber well in his motion and stays directional to the plate. He shows a controlled landing and rotates to his target which allows him to control all of his pitches. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph. Breaking ball ranges from 63-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 66-70mph. Will can improve as a pitcher by using his lower half more in his motion. Overall, Will is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

02/28/2016 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Will is a solid, strong 1B who will graduate in 2019 with a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He shows good bag awareness and displays clean hands. Continuing to improve foot quickness will increase range. He shows off his athletic abilities and flexibility on his stretches. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (78 mph exit velo) and work through a level swing path with late explosion. He has some pop in his bat and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 4 years to further develop, Will has a lot of potential and will get looks with baseball abilities as he continues to progress, possibly as a 2 way guy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
