05/26/2024 - National Showcase - San Francisco, CA Willem is a 2026 graduate that has improved in all facets of his game since we last saw him in May 2023. Foot speed has improved with having shaved over 1/2 second off his 60 time now down to 7.60 seconds. Broad jump improving from 6'10" to 8'1" and grip strength up to 111 on his right hand and 110 on his left. On the mound, his fastball has gained 5mph now up to 82mph with tailing action, curveball sat 67-71mph with medium break and change-up coming in at 76-77mph with gradual tail. He pivots off his back-foot and rotates his hips properly helping generate more explosion towards the plate. On flat ground, arm strength up to 85mph. He gets behind fly balls properly and displays a quick exchange from glove to hand with carry and accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he sprays the whole field with line-drive power through quick hands and excellent finish. With two years of high school remaining, we expect Loveless to turn heads as he marches closer to graduation.

05/14/2023 - National Showcase - San Francisco, CA Willem is a tough and scrappy OF/RHP in the 2026 class. In the field, he has active feet and gains ground to the baseball. He works behind the baseball and can redirect it back to the dirt quickly. Arm plays at 81 and is accurate to the target. On the mound, he has a solid set-up and uses his legs properly. He can create deception by hiding the ball well with his ¾ slot. His FB sat 76-7 and had tailing actions in the zone. His CB had 11-5 shape and late break. Working to stay closed on the pitch will help with his location. His CH has FB arm speed and run at 70. At the plate, he is a contact type hitter who can use the whole field. Has a line drive approach and finishes through the baseball well. Working to stay above the baseball will assist his approach as he progresses to higher levels. Overall, scouts were impressed with his actions and are excited to witness his development at future BF events.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
