01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament William continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, this 6'4"/200 player puts his athleticism on display as he can cover ground right and left. He fields the ball with soft hands and has a quick exchange to throw. With the bat, Darnell steps into the box with a purpose. Plus bat speed and torque from a strong lower 1/2 generate pop off of his barrel. This strong 2-way player has the tools with a ton of upside that will translate well into the next level.

06/10/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida This RHH is a bat that will drive in runs. He connects and drives the ball with pop as it jumps off of his barrel to all parts of the field. Defensively, he works into an athletic fielding position, funnels well, and has clean actions tho throw. Darnell has the tools that will translate well at the next level.

06/04/2014 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Darnell is a hard worker who brings his all everyday. He excels offensively where he has the ability to drive the ball with power to all parts of the field. He puts the barrel on the ball consistently and will be a run producer. Defensively, Will is versatile enough to play both corner spots on the INF. He shows good prep, gets low, and works to field the ball out in front. He has good game awareness, reading hitters well and adjusting his position accordingly. Darnell shows to be a skilled prospect who has a bright future in the game.

01/26/2014 - College PREP - Jacksonville, FL Darnell showed as a 3B with a solid 6'3/185 lbs frame. Defensively, he has a controlled approach with sure/ready hands and a sound fielding position. He has good carry on his throws and has decent release. Offensively, he gets to a strong hitting position, gets the barrel through the zone and has a knack for getting the barrel to the ball. Darnell is a very projectable corner INF that has a lot of upside with his frame and ability.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City William is a prospect at 3B showing very solid skills at the plate. In Pirate City, William showed an aggressive approach at the plate, good physical size, and solid bat speed. He has a smooth load, swings in good rhythm, and has good pop in his bat. Defensively, William has good body control, soft hands, and good hand-eye coordination. He has good awareness in the field and a fluid arm action to his target. Overall - a very talented player who has a bright future in the game.

06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 William showed once again at the hot corner in his most recent Baseball Factory event. Defensively, the big/tall/lean built Darnell showed effective footwork, good fielding position and playable hands. He is very athletic and is able to make plays and throws after catch with a low 3/4 arm slot. At the plate, he has a tall setup and generates fast bat speed. Darnell is fluid within his swing, but has a slight arm bar - restricting greater bat speed. In all, William is a young player that is still growing and maturing - and should find himself in a good spot within the next couple of years.

01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Darnell continued to show as a 3B at the event. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square balls up. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front, improve foot speed, and play through a low approach to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, William shows a balanced, open setup with rhythm. Hands work through a level swing path and he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers continue to improve as he learns to use lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable.

11/04/2012 - College PREP - Tampa, FL William is a tall, 3rd baseman who will graduate in 2015. Defensively, William presents his glove well, he fields athletically, and he makes the routine plays. He has a clean exchange and throws with consistency from multiple arm slots. Lighter feet and following his throws will improve defense. Offensively, William has an open set-up, decent bat speed, and he makes consistent contact. He will need to improve his rhythm, throw his hands more to the ball, and tap into his lower 1/2 in order to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
