12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic William is a tough and scrappy C/SS in the 2028 class. He impressed scouts with his make-up and high baseball IQ. Although smaller in stature, he plays big and was one of the most outstanding players in the west coast winter classic. Behind the plate, he has a quiet set-up and solid glove control. His exchanges are clean and uses his legs on his throws. Blocked well in games and showed advanced awareness with his in-game situations. At the plate, he had a monster weekend. He collected 5 hits in 6 official at-bats (2 BB’s, HBP). He stayed balanced at the plate and looked for his pitch. Timing was solid as he used the middle of the field and peppered the right center gap. He also jumped on the mound and competed. His FB topped 61 and had a clean inning. Overall, William is a very likeable player with high character traits. If he can continue to get stronger, he will have a bright future.

04/03/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA William is an athletic C/SS who will graduate in 2028. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.94 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 6 years to further develop, William has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
