08/01/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (HS) William continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 2 for 3 with 2 BB and 2 HBP. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.28 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front.

03/20/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - St. Louis, MO William is a 2022 prospect at the Catcher position. He shows off a tall(6'1'') and wiry frame that has plenty of room to continue to fill out. He has above average athleticism for a catcher. In the field, he does a great job of getting into a low squat and giving his pitcher a good target to throw to. Does a good job squaring his chest on balls he blocks. Has a quick and short arm action with a clean exchange leading to throws on-line and on top of the bag. At the plate, he shows off a line drive approach. Features a quiet and square stance. His long levers help him get extension on pitches out over the plate. Overall, WIlliam is a fun prospect to watch that we hope to see more of in the future.

11/01/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Indianapolis, IN William is a tall, athletic catcher who will graduate in 2022. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.61 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, William has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
