04/30/2017 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA William is a tall, lanky 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and flashes gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, William has a ton of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
