12/29/2023 - National Showcase - New Orleans, LA William has a big frame and stout build. He continues to show improvement in all areas of his game. A catching prospect who will graduate in 2025. Has an easy sit with efficient footwork. Tracks pitches well and works his thumb under the ball. Creates momentum to second base and has good carry on his throws. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 81mph with a best pop time of 1.97 seconds. Does a good job of covering the 5-hole on his blocks with his chin tucked. A power hitting righty who starts with an open stance. Shows quick hands and an explosive bat through the hitting zone. During his round of BP, he hit balls hard to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 93mph. William should have opportunities to play at the next level with continued development.

07/27/2023 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One William is a strong and solid 6ft/220 catcher in the 2025 class. Behind the plate, he has a quiet relaxed feel while presenting a square and strong target. Hands are soft and keeps his eyes behind the baseball to maintain the strike zone. His catch to throw is clean and he gains a high 3qtr slot for a 2.05 release on the bag. Also, a great blocker with quick feet, great angle and fast recovery time. At the plate, he shows explosive bat speed at 92 exit velo. Has pure power to the pull side with an on-plane barrel path. His lower half is explosive while remaining balanced during his swing. Can get overly aggressive at times and working to look for his pitch will assist him when he gets to higher levels of pitching. Overall, William is a solid player.

06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament William continues to shine in his baseball abilities at the All-State event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering ball out front. Pop times showed in 2.15 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

09/25/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Poplarville, MS William is a young, strong, 2-way player who catches and plays 3rd base. Behind the plate, William has fluid footwork, a presentable glove, and he sits in squarely. He blocks and receives well, keeps the ball in front, and throws with accuracy and momentum to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.26 seconds. If William can block sooner, recover quicker, and continue to add arm strength, catching skills will continue to get better. At 3rd, William has active feet, he fields low and athletically, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He picks out the right hops, his exchange is quick and clean, and he throws from multiple arm angles with accuracy to his target. Lighter feet and playing more through will help INF skills improve. Offensively, William has a square stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, good bat whip, and he hits line drives gap to gap well. William is a nice 2-way prospect with a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
