12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory Holiday Classic at Pirate City Winston is a 2026 third baseman and right-handed pitcher from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, who worked on his skills at the Baseball Factory Pirate City Holiday Camp. Defensively, he works to center the baseball with a relaxed glove and on-time fielding position, throwing from a high three-quarter release point. At the plate, he starts in wide stance and is centered at contact but needs to work on keeping his hands up. He had a double, a single, and two walks in live game action, demonstrating solid plate discipline and a consistent approach. Winston is a hard worker who hustles on and off the field and is a good teammate. On the mound, Winston has a projectable frame with long levers and does a great job of attacking hitters. He works ahead in the count and in two innings of work, he struck out four batters while not allowing an earned run. Another year of growth and development will continue to enhance his skills both offensively and on the mound.

07/22/2024 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Winston is a lean, athletic 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2026. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and works to square ground balls up but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.21 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact and has strength (81 mph exit velocity) in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph. Breaking ball displays slight 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a good feel for pitch with sinking action. Slider is harder with tight spin. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Winston has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
