11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Select Training & Competition (HS) Xander is a hardworking freshman third baseman and right-handed pitcher from Brunswick, OH, who recently worked to improve his skills at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. As a third baseman, Xander's arm strength stands out, reaching an impressive 83 mph across the diamond. He starts in a relaxed, ready position on the balls of his feet and fields from a square position, tracking the ball cleanly into his glove. His throws across the diamond are accurate, demonstrating strong defensive fundamentals and the ability to make plays at third base. On the mound, Xander starts square to the plate and takes the proper stride length, showing good mechanics in his delivery. He throws a fastball, curveball, and changeup, all with good movement in the strike zone. However, he needs to improve his front side and balance to increase his consistency and control in the strike zone. At the plate, Xander starts with a narrow stance, and his head tracks pitches well. He swings with intent, showing the ability to drive the ball, as evidenced by a double to right field and a base on balls during live game action. However, he occasionally gets too aggressive on his front foot, which can affect his timing. With four more years of growth and development ahead, Xander has the potential to become a well-rounded player, both offensively and defensively, as he continues to refine his mechanics and timing.
