01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Xavier is a talented 2-way player who showed well during his time in Pirate City. He is a coachable player who makes adjustments quickly and has a willingness to learn. In the MIF, he has active footwork moving well into a square/athletic fielding position. He works from the ground-up with athletic/fluid actions and has a quick transfer/exchange to throw. Offensively, Acosta stands in well with centered balance and a solid base. He tracks pitches into the zone, has rhythm in his hands and waits for his pitch. He barrels the ball up consistently and dries it back up the middle of the field. Swinging on a more direct path to and through the zone will help to increase pop off of the bat. Acosta is a skilled athlete who will find success in this his freshman year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
