He whips the barrel with + bat speed and connects with pop, driving the ball to the deep parts of the park (collecting 2 singles at the event). At 3B, he has active prep and moves right to left in his approach to the GB. Hands are soft as he gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw. On the mound, this RHP steps onto the rubber looking to attack hitters. He maintains fluid tempo and repeats well. FB cracks the mitt now topping out at 82 mph as he works it in and out. Curveball shows 10/4 shape - 71-73 mph. He does a nice job of mixing his timing a looks, keeping base runners close. Botelho is a solid all-around prospect who will make an impact on the diamond in a variety of ways.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18)
Xavier is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect who is very coachable. At the hot corner, Xavier presents a low/early glove, he's on time with his prep step, and works from the ground up. He has a good first step, works around the ball, and creates good angles. At the plate, Xavier starts in a relaxed stance, has loose hands, and is consistently on time. He’s aggressive on the fastball and rotates his lower half. He needs to continue to keep a middle approach and keep his shoulder closed when making contact. On the bump, Xavier has good mound presence, he gathers over the rubber, and attacks the bottom part of the zone. He needs to continue to find a balance point, ride his back leg downhill, and keep a strong front side. Xavier is a good teammate and has a bright future ahead of himself.
08/18/2019 - College PREP - Providence, RI
Xavier is a 2-way player who will graduate in 2021. At 2nd base, Xavier has fluid/active feet, soft/presentable hands, and he covers ground well. He fields athletically, makes plays, and throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has good balance and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, lands with a proper length stride toward home, and competes in the zone. More glove side lead and developing a CH can help mound effectiveness improve. At the plate, Xavier has a square stance, a solid base, and a rhythmic swing. He swings aggressively and hits with strength to the pull side. Hitting can improve with better barrel accuracy and tapping into more lower 1/2. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Xavier.
