10/22/2023 - National Showcase - Montgomery, AL Xavier continues to shine with his baseball on the diamond. On the mound, he works through a sound / repeatable delivery and a quick tempo. Fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph with arm side run with sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Slider is best off-speed pitch, displaying tight spin and 12/6 downward break. Control is solid as the attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential is now well above average through an open, crouched setup. Hands are and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Xavier showed well in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City event. Foot speed continues to improve as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.21 runner. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness to cover a lot of ground in the OF. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable, allowing his arm action to work clean to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/01/2021 - All-In Membership - Newnan, GA Xavier continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 65-67 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

06/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Newnan, GA Xavier continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Working to get stride foot down quicker to be on time will aid in improving hitting abilities. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 62-64 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Montgomery, AL Xavier is a lean, athletic OF/RHP who will graduate in 2024. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and present well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Xavier has potential with time and room to improve his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
