01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Xavier is a solid catching prospect in the 2022 class. Behind the dish, he has great feet and maintains flexibility to move well laterally. Sits in a low athletic receiving position with strong glove presentation. He can redirect the baseball quickly from catch to throw and arm gains into a high ¾ slot. Uses his feet well to gain momentum to his targets for consistent accuracy and on-line production. Has arm strength (82 velo) to throw the baseball through the base. Increasing leg strength for blocking quickness will allow him to replace his feet properly on balls in the dirt. At the plate, proves to be a solid line drive hitter. He begins with a squared set up and has a short stride. Has fluid rhythm and body stays centered in his balance. Gets his back hip through the baseball and creates barrel awareness with an on-plane attack angle. Xavier will make a fine addition to a college roster very soon.

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Xavier continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.06 range with accuracy and on line zip (80 mph velocity) on his throws. Receiving / blocking tools show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Vergne is an athletic RHH backstop who continues to shine and showed well at the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Behind the dish, this defensive specialist sits in with athletic/quiet actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He is quick laterally, gaining and creating a good chest angle, deadening the ball in front. Transfer is quick as he puts throws right on the bag - pop times now at 1.95. As a hitter, Xavier shows a balanced stance with fluid rhythm to load. He engages his lower 1/2 and creates good extension through contact, driving the ball on a line. This 2022 grad has a solid all-around skill-set with upside and will find success in this only his junior season.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Xavier continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

01/26/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Delray Beach, FL Xavier is an athletic and talented 2022 utility prospect. Behind the dish, Xavier has a quiet stance and works behind the ball when receiving. When blocking, he leads with his glove and tries to control the ball with his chest. When throwing, he has quick feet, a clean exchange, and a quick release. At SS, Xavier is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He has good angles to the ball, he has good footwork, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Xavier starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets to balance at contact. He hits off a firm front side and looks to drive the ball to all fields. Xavier will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/28/2019 - College PREP - Fort Myers, FL Xavier is an athletic C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Xavier shows active footwork and centers the ball when blocking. He sits in a low stance and receives with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, driving to his pull side. With three more years to develop, Xavier has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
