06/15/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Zach continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 3 for 4. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 72-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/18/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Zach is a RHP in the 2025 class. One the mound, he gathers over the rubber well and separates his hands on-time. Has a loose arm from a high ¾ release point. Solid balance point and maintains his eyes to his target. His FB sat 70-1 with a slight cut action. His CB ranged from 56-8 with 12-6 shape. His CH is his best pitch. He sat 62-3 with run and used FB arm speed for deception. Working to stay in his legs longer and can a consistent release point will help him command both sides of the plate. In the batters box, he uses a middle of the field approach. He stays balanced and eyes stay locked in on the baseball. Overall, Zach is a 2025 player to kee and eye on.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
