06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Zach worked out in Omaha at both SS and behind the plate. He currently projects best as a SS for the next level. At SS, Zach has fluid footwork, sure hands, and good pre-pitch actions. He fields athletically, and throws with life and carry from a loose arm action. Playing more out front will help him improve, but this was the best we have seen him defensively thus far. Behind the plate, Zach receives the ball well, sits in low, and has accuracy to 2nd base with his throws. With more work on receiving and blocking, he could blossom into a good catcher. Offensively, Zach has a square set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He swings in good rhythm, makes square contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through creating some power. Keeping his hands back and getting closed quicker will help his hitting grades continue to improve. In gameplay, Zach showed good instincts on the bases, and good leadership on the field. He has a great feel for the game and is a good athlete. He will continue to make improvements as he matures physically.
