04/02/2017 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Zach is a tall, lean 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents out front. Athletic abilities are present through his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Zach has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game, possibly as a two-way guy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
