08/12/2008 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Zach is an athletic middle infielder with four solid tools. He has an accurate arm with life and carry and plus agility. His feet work well and his hands work even better. Exchange is excellent and his actions are quick and clean. With the bat, Zach squares the ball up consistently and uses the whole field. He has a level path and good batspeed. Would like to see him let the ball travel deeper in the zone and use his lower half more consistently. Power is only tool that is not well above average, but he is young and has a good frame to build on. Will be a fun one to watch over the next year and a half.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
