01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Zach is a 2026 2B who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. At 2B, he showed good range, with active footwork, and has athletic actions. He worked from right to left and fields from an athletic fielding position with a 2-hand exchange. He made accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot to first base with an arm velocity up to 62mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance with comfortable hands. Good rhythm to swing and rotates his lower half to contact point. A compact barrel path enables him to hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 55mph during BP. Zach is a solid player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/17/2022 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Zach is a 2B/OF prospect who showcased his skills during the Pro Select Training. In the field, Zach shows efficient footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and works through a level swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap. Overall, Zach is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Zach Mooney is a 2B/OF in the 2025 class. He shows relentless effort on the field and plays the game hard. At shortstop he goes and gets the ground ball and uses the momentum to make accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate he shows adaptability and stays aggressive in his approach. With a flat swing path he is able to spray the ball to all fields and over time this approach and will allow him to turn into a gap-gap hitter. With 4 years to develop he has time to build upon his current skills with training and practice.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
