05/25/2013 - Little League® Experience - S. Williamsport Zach is an above average fielder with solid arm strength. He has active footwork, solid hands and plays through the ball well. Continuing to polish his skills as a fielder and long tossing to strengthen his arm would be beneficial. On the mound Zach showed solid mechanics and threw strikes. He needs to long toss to get the velocity up, stay in-line to target, not rush through balance point and keep front side closed. As a hitter Zach has great mechanics and has a good line drive approach. He only lacks size which will come with time. If he keeps polishing his skills his size will catch up and Zach will be a fine player.

05/26/2012 - Little League® Experience Zach is a young/athletic kid who plays SS, 3B and is a RHP. As an infielder he has decent arm strength and he uses two when fielding the ball. He needs to be more aggressive in his approach and work on his footwork by using the agility drills from camp. On the mound Zach showed potential. He has solid mechanics, loose arm action, throws strikes and is very composed on the mound. He needs to lengthen his arm on the backside. At the plate Zach displayed an athletic setup, he has a load, stable balance, good rhythm and he uses the entire field. Overall he has solid mechanics and a smooth swing. Right handed is his stronger side at this point. He just needs to keep working on his mechanics and as he matures he will see improvement. If Zach makes the adjustments he can be a solid player in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
