Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

07/28/2024 - National Showcase - Redmond, WA Zach is a RHP/OF prospect who will graduate high school in 2027. Shows good body control at baseball with quick feet. He works behind and through the baseball with a high catch. Made on-line throws into infield from a 3/4 arm slot. At the plate he starts with a square glide step and gets knob to C. Has a fast barrel through the hitting zone with a bat exit velocity up to 89mph. On the bump he gets a good rear hip coil and breaks his hands at his mid-line. Pounds the strike zone with a FB that sits 72-75mph with good movement. He mixes in an 11/5 shaped slider with tight spin and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. Zach should improve in all facets of his game with continued growth and development.

07/13/2023 - National Showcase - Tacoma, WA Zach is an RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with some strength present and room to add throughout. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch. He has a simple/repeatable delivery and works with good direction down the mound. A 3-pitch pitcher who attacks hitters with his FB that sat 63-64mph. He mixes in a 9/3 shaped slider and a changeup with some arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. In the infield he works to center the baseball and makes routine plays. He made on-line throws to first base from a 3/4 arm slot, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 71mph. At the plate he hits from an upright and even stance. A quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Shows good plate discipline as he only offered at balls in the strike zone. He made contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
