Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Zach is a talented 2010 graduate with good athleticism and play skills. Defensively, he has quick feet and he moves very well laterally. Zach fields the baseball aggressively, and shows a solid back hand at 2B. He is a scrappy baseball player who's fielding grade improved form 45 to 50, since we last saw him 6/09. Offensively, Zach improved both his hitting and power grades from 48 to 50, and 45 to 48 respectively. He has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. Zach has a compact swing, uses all fields, and the ball tends to jump off of his bat. If Zach can let the ball travel further, and load a little sooner, offensive numbers could continue to improve.

06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Zachary is a two-way player in the OF and at 2B with a small, athletic looking body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.71 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in tracking down balls in OF, displaying range. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process showing near above average defensive abilities. His throws are accurate showing solid average arm strength and needs to get on a strict long toss program to improve arm strength with carry on throws. At the plate, Bukiewicz has near above average abilities with solid average power. Hands work direct and through the baseball showing an aggressive approach displaying a solid feel for the barrel. Swing path is level with power numbers improving as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the bases, he is a smart, aggressive base runner that will take the extra base with his foot speed. He was 4 for 9 at the event with 4 1B. Zach has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
