06/06/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Zach showed as a LHP who has an athletic/strong build. On the bump, this lefty throws a 3-pitch mix from a high 3/4 arm slot. FB now tops out at 72 mph as he works it to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape as he commands it well with the ability to throw it for strikes. He has smooth actions in his delivery while getting good glove side lead. Added velocity will come with more lower 1/2 drive off the rubber. At the plate, Zach shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Swing is level as he drives the ball back up the middle of the field. Clements is a couple adjustments away from unlocking his potential on the bump.

09/21/2014 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Zachary is a lean, athletic LHP/1B. On the mound, he has loose actions and works to a good balance point. He gets extension through the pitch and finishes with a controlled landing. Having that controlled landing results in the chest over the front knee for a perfect delivery. He is efficient in filling up the count with strikes and has great tempo. At 1B, he maintains good body control that allows him to have plus agility. He fields the ball cleanly and makes the plays. At the plate, he has a closed stance with balance throughout his swing. By using a more direct/level swing path, Zachary will see a more consistent results. Zachary possesses tools that will help his future in baseball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
