08/05/2010 - Vero Beach Pro Select Training and Competition - 2010 Zachary is a young (2014) two-way player in the OF plus on the mound with a solid frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is near average as indicated by his 7.64 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he works to get behind balls, playing through balls with momentum to his target. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the ball quickly but must get on a long toss program to develop more carry. He also worked out at 1B where he shows potential abilities. Offensively, De Thomasis continues to shine as he displays a solid setup with hands working directly to the baseball. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat through a fluid path as he shows potential to be a plus hitter at the next level. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 67-71 mph with arm side run on a slight downhill plane. Off speed pitches are near average, flashing potential as he continues to further develop. Stock on mound will rise quickly as more arm strength is developed. With 4 years to further develop, Zach has potential with the makings to be a solid collegiate player in the OF as he continues to improve.
