05/14/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Tampa, FL Zachary is a talented young Catcher /1B prospect. As a Catcher, Zachary presents a low target, he is firm but soft when receiving, and keeps the ball in front when he blocks. If he continues to have a slightly less staggered stance, transfer the ball in front of his chest, step toward his target when throwing, and stay low on his throws, he will increase his accuracy and pop times. Working on his agilities will increase his ability to block balls to his left and right. At 1B, Zachary has active pre pitch movement, gets his feet into the proper position to throw, and is accurate when his DP feeds. If he continues to work on staying down on the ball when fielding, work behind the ball, and increasing his ability to field to his left/right, he will be a more agile 1B. At the plate, Zachary is in a balanced stance, gets his hands back, and makes hard contact. If he continues to work on a middle approach, attacking the inside part of the ball, driving his back side, and get extension through the ball, he will become a more complete hitter.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Ginder improved his foot speed at the event as he ran his best 60 time to date. He did have an injury that prevented him from further participating.

03/29/2015 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Zachary is a 5'10/130 lbs C/RHP that showed best with the glove behind the dish. Defensively, he was sure with the glove to receive, tracking the ball in. He was accurate to throw, and worked his body into a straight-line to throw. He had a good base which enabled him to drop quickly to block, anticipating a ball in the dirt. Offensively, he worked his swing with good balance and a direct path. He was level with the barrel to and through the ball, rotating his core to generate bat speed. More lower half use and hand activation to launch will enable greater hit and power ability. On the hill, he threw his fastball from 63-65, his 10/4 CB from 53-55, and his CH from 61-63. He has some feel for mechanics, and with greater focus on direction and extension will boost command. In all - Zachary is a freshman with sound ability to add strength to for a promising high school career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
