01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Zachary is a wiry 2019 SS prospect with smooth actions on the field. He's a slick defender at short with athletic actions and fluid feet. He attacks the ball with aggression and fields in an athletic position. He works around the ball and gains momentum to his target on throws, following his feeds on DP turns to get the ball to his target quickly. At the dish, he has a strong setup with sound mechanics through his swing, employing a leg kick with a powerful load. His lower half is engaged and he has a level swing with good extension through contact to show gap to gap ability. Getting stronger will lead to better bat control that leads to more contact and better ability to drive the ball as he grows and matures. Zachary is a very intriguing player who has lots of potential that we think he can realize as he continues to play.

07/14/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Zachary is a real gamer who has a very mature feel for the game in all areas. He is a steady fielder at short with great actions to field and throw. He shows efficient feet with lateral quickness that give him good range to both sides. His glove gets extended to field and he makes accurate throws to his target. Implementing a long toss program will help him build arm strength and become a complete shortstop. At the plate, Zachary has quiet actions with a simple stroke that allows him to make consistent contact. He shows good feel for the barrel with a direct bat path and sprays line drives all over the field. Zachary is a solid young player with the feel and upside to turn himself into a good prospect for the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
