While his arm is accurate, focusing on improving his arm strength will enhance his overall defensive impact. On the mound, Zachary has a notable pick-off move to first base, which adds a strategic element to his pitching. He demonstrates good balance and control, but working on increasing his velocity will further elevate his effectiveness against hitters. At the plate, Zachary employs a strong two-strike approach, exhibiting patience and focus. Zachary is a sophomore 1B/LHP from Elm City, NC who showcased his talents at the BF prospect camp. Has active feet with a clean exchange. Creates momentum to his targets and throws from a low 3/4 arm slot. His arm fits the position and has carry on his balls to all bases. He hits from a square batting stance with comfortable hands. He keeps his head down and is balanced at contact he takes an aggressive swing and uses the whole field with a bat exit velocity up to 83 mph. He reached base multiple times including a single and a walk. On the mound he challenges hitters with a cut fastball that topped at 70mph, a curveball with medium break, and a changeup that he keeps down in the zone. He faced five batters and struck out two and induced soft contact. Zachary is a coachable kid with a willingness to make adjustments. Look forward to seeing him at another event soon.
11/02/2023 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at JRTC
Zachary continues to impress with his baseball abilities at the Fall Select showcase. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS)
Zachary is a 2027 LHP/1B prospect that recently showcased his skills at the National World Series at the JRTC. At first, he does well to get in a squared, on-time fielding position and presents his hands in front. He does a good job of keeping his eyes down and following the ball into the glove. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws to his targets with a loose arm action. He recorded a raw velo of 71 MPH, improving on his previous mark. At the plate, he starts in a squared, athletic stance with high hands and a short stride to the pitcher. He has a fluid rhythm in the box and does well to stay centered with his lower half throughout his swing, providing a solid foundation. He has quick hands and fast bat speed, and he rotates his core through contact. He recorded a max exit velo of 71 MPH. In game action, he worked for count leverage and reached base in 3 of 8 plate appearances with a single and a walk. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 slot and shows really good command of the strike zone, firing in 20 of 25 pitches for strikes in game action. He has a good presence on the mound and does a good job of gathering his balance before driving to the plate. He gets on-time separation and good extension with his frontside while getting to a good stride length. He ran his FB up to 67 MPH and flashed good run with the pitch, and his CB had gradual 1-7 break. He struck out 2 in 2 innings of scoreless game action and allowed 2 hits. Overall, Zachary is an exciting prospect that we are excited to see more of in the future!
03/19/2023 - National Showcase - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC

At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 4 years to further develop, Zachary has potential with time and room to progress his game.
