01/16/2017 - College PREP - Auburndale (Tampa), FL Zachary is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2018. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show in the 2.4 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He displays a solid setup and tracks the ball well through the receiving process. Receiving grade will improve as he lets the ball travel and softens glove action. He utilizes his body well through blocking process but needs to work on creating better angles and work to get down quicker. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a level swing path. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through his lower half. Zachary has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
