01/01/2013 - 2013 Baseball Factory Top 100, powered by Under Armour Quality LH bat with quick hands and a confident approach. Continues to drive balls against all pitching with leverage power. Good enough athlete to move to 1B if needed.

08/18/2012 - Under Armour All-America Game Collins has a large frame at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds with the look that he will get bigger and stronger. His left handed stroke features quick, strong hands and excellent barrel accuracy. His approach is built more for line drives, though he has the strength and leverage to produce power. He is capable behind the plate, is as solid receiver with arm strength and catch and throw skills. He moves well enough to play 1B as well, which only makes his bat more valuable.

06/13/2012 - 2012 Team One Florida Showcase Zach showed very well both offensively and defensively during his time at Team One Florida. He has a square / athletic set-up, quick hands, and fast bat speed. He makes solid / square contact, he has a good eye for the zone, and he has plus pop in his bat. Behind the plate, Zach tracks the ball well, he blocks and deadens the ball softly, and his pop times are as low as 1.98. Zach is a talented all around player with a bright future.

10/01/2011 - Team One Futures East 2011 Collins was among the most advanced offensive players at the event. His left handed stroke combined sound fundamentals and balance with bat speed, strength and raw power. He delivered the good part of the barrel to contact on a short route, and worked it through the zone with authority. He showed near average to average arm strength on the 20-80 ML scouting scale, and was accurate with his throws in the 2.0 to 2.1 range. He sat behind the plate fine, and showed potential to develop into a solid receiver. University of Miami commit.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
