04/14/2013 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Zach is 1B who has a tall and thick frame. Offensively, he displays a tall and closed setup and simple approach. He has some pull side power and can put the ball in the gaps. Getting some better rhythm will help him to get into a loaded position earlier and will improve consistency at the plate. Defensively at 1B, Espinosa shows good footwork to his backhand and has good bag awareness. He has the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Zach has a solid all-around skill set and as only a freshman, he has time to continue and improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
