08/09/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Zach showed similar skills at Team One Northeast as he did in previous workouts. At 1B, Zach has loose actions, soft / sure hands, and good footwork around the bag. He can pick the ball out of the dirt, and throws accurately with carry to his target. Defensive abilities can improve if Zach can keep his feet moving and field the ball further out in front of his body. Offensively, Zach has quick hands, good bat speed, and he centers the ball well. He can spray the ball to all fields and he flashes a line drive approach. A shorter stroke and more extension through the ball should help offensive numbers further spike.

06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Zack is a tall, thin, 1st baseman with good skills. He lowered his 60 time from 7.41 to 7.06 since his last workout in Boca Raton. Defensively, Zack's hands and feet play well, and he makes routine plays. He moves well around the bag and throws accurately with carry to his target. If Zack can have more soft hands, and play more of the balls of his feet, defensive numbers will improve. At the plate, Zack has good balance and a rhythmic swing. He has quick hands, he centers the ball well, and it jumps off his bat. More direct hands to the ball, and more lower 1/2 will help solid offensive numbers become even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
